Saturday, September 6, 2008 Come to a fabulous house concert with The Red Wellies! The Red Wellies is a trio of fine Irish Traditional musicians operating out of Asheville, North Carolina. Fiddler Claudine Odell (her friends and family call her "Beanie") is a highly respected Irish fiddle teacher who has studied with some of the greats, including Tommy Peoples and Martin Hayes. Her nephew, Duncan Wickel, on fiddle and Uilleann pipes, has toured with John Doyle and is a member of the Cathie Ryan Band. It also features traditional and historical tunes from Cape Breton Island, Scotland, Ireland and Northumberland, with a good measure of original music in the traditional style. As well as a broad range of styles of Celtic music, this program also features an impressive range of expression, from the jaunty and humorous to soulful, led by Patsy's warm and multi-hued baritone voice, Dick's variety of pipes and whistles, and the nimble instrumental virtuosity of both musicians. Please note that none of these instruments are very loud.
